Infrastructure Highlights

Strategically located within Westport’s industrial hub, this state of the art facility offers seamless access to global markets, strengthening Selangor’s position as a key player in the global biofuels supply chain reinforcing our competitiveness in a market.

The Solvent Extraction Plant was commissioned in July 2025, and the Specialized Refining Plant will be commissioned in 2026. Once operational, this facility will significantly increase Gamalux’s Processing capacity, meeting the growing global demand for sustainable feedstocks used in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Biodiesel.

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Oil

Palm oil mill effluent is the voluminous liquid waste that comes from the sterilization and clarification processes in milling oil palm. The processes of palm oil extraction and purification generate a large amount of wastewater known as palm oil mill effluent (POME).

POME is a waste-based feedstock that is collected at palm oil mills during the palm oil production process. Extracted from the wastewater of palm oil mills, POME oil is a renewable by-product that we recover and refine into sustainable feedstocks. By reclaiming this oil, we help minimize pollution and reduce the carbon footprint of palm oil processing.

It has been acknowledged as a suitable feedstock for biofuels in the EU Renewable Energy Directive II (RED II). EU biodiesel mandates are rising, and POME looks set to become an increasingly important feedstock.

Empty Palm Fruit Bunch (EFB)

Empty Palm Fruit Bunch (EFB) is a kind of biomass formed during the production process of palm oil. EFB is a by-product obtained after steaming and threshing the fresh palm fruit. It refers to the empty husks left after the palm fruit is removed.

EFB oil is derived from the pressed empty fruit bunch fibers left after palm fruit extraction. Through specialized mechanical and thermal recovery processes, we obtain valuable oil residues that are refined into bio-based materials suitable for renewable fuel applications.

EFB that used to be disposed of as waste has recently been used as a fuel as quantities have increased, though it commonly has a high moisture content which affects combustion efficiency.

Used Cooking Oil (UCO)

Used Cooking Oil (UCO) is a sustainable raw material made of food industry by-products. It is also known as waste cooking oil, because it refers to edible oils and fats leftover from cooking or frying in food industry, restaurants, and households.

We collect and process Used Cooking Oil from various industrial and commercial sources, converting it into certified renewable feedstocks. This initiative supports a circular economy by transforming waste oil into a valuable, low-carbon energy source.

Spent Bleaching Earth Oil (SBEO)

SBEO is recovered from spent bleaching earth used in the edible oil refining process. Our technology extracts the residual oil content, preventing waste and promoting resource efficiency. The recovered oil is then treated and upgraded for renewable energy production.
